Lewis, Huey & The News

Huey Lewis Collected celebrates the career of Huey Lewis & The News, a band synonymous with feel-good, high-energy pop rock built on big hooks, sharp musicianship and an unmistakable voice that defined an era. This comprehensive collection traces the band's remarkable journey, from their early bar band roots to their rise as one of the most successful American acts of the 1980s. Born in New York and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Huey Lewis followed an unconventional path. A gifted student and athlete, he hitchhiked across America and Europe, teaching himself harmonica along the way. His early years with Clover took him to England, where he recorded with top producers and contributed harmonica to classic rock albums before returning home to form the group that would make him a household name. Huey Lewis & The News emerged from the vibrant Bay Area music scene with a tight, soulful sound shaped by Huey Lewis, Sean Hopper, Johnny Colla, Mario Cipollina, Bill Gibson and later Chris Hayes. Their breakthrough came with Picture This in 1982, but it was the blockbuster album Sports that turned them into global superstars. Hits including "I Want a New Drug", "The Heart of Rock & Roll" and "If This Is It" dominated the charts and airwaves, making Sports one of the best-selling albums of the decade. Their momentum continued with iconic contributions to the Back to the Future soundtrack, including the chart-topping "The Power of Love", followed by the multi-platinum success of Fore! And it's string of international hits. Through changing musical landscapes, the band continued to evolve, releasing acclaimed albums, exploring their rhythm & blues roots and maintaining a reputation as one of America's most engaging live acts. Huey Lewis Collected includes the global hits "The Power of Love", "I Want a New Drug" and "Hip to Be Square", alongside tracks by Clover ("Streets of London") and American Express ("Exodisco"), plus more iconic songs. This Music On Vinyl edition is available as a limited edition of 5,000 individually numbered copies on white coloured vinyl, and includes a 4-page booklet with liner notes.
